Inside the Gate: Rose Bridge Farm, Co. Wexford

This Inside the Gate Open Farm Day is organised by Farming For Nature and is an opportunity to visit a farm and see the important work that farmers do for nature in your local community. This event is open to families, and will be held on different farms across the country on Sunday August 30th. You must purchase a ticket to attend as numbers are limited (first come, first served). Adult tickets cost €5 and kids (under 16 y/o) go free!

What to expect

Join the Poole family on their working dairy farm, where caring for nature is part of everyday farming. Discover how wildlife, pollinators and productive farming can thrive together as you explore habitats, learn about sustainable farming practices, and hear how simple changes are making a big difference. It's an inspiring visit for families, farmers and anyone who loves the countryside.

Some highlights may include:

• Meet the farmer and tour the farm.
• Visit the river.
• Learn about conservation projects on the farm - ponds, barn owl, swifts, sand martins, swallows and bats, moth monitoring.
• Watch/learn about milking cows.
• Learn about poultry/collect eggs.
• Pick blackberries or other edibles. 
• Pick apples or other fruit.
• Collect seeds.
• Citizen science – do a basic insect survey.

Other information:

• We have a suitable place inside for a picnic so bring some if you wish.
• We will be providing light refreshments like tea, coffee and scones etc on the day in lieu of a donation.
• There will be a toilet available.
• The farm is not fully accessible for people with limited mobility or buggies. The yard is OK, but other areas of the farm are not suitable. 
• No dogs allowed.
• Please wear suitable clothing and footwear (this is a working farm). Dress for the weather.

FFN is a non-profit organisation and any money raised is circulated back into the farming community. FFN is supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the National Parks and Wildlife Services.
