Food Justice Fortnight 2024 - Children's Food Takeover!
Sun 23 Jun 2024 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Felix Road Adventure Playground, BS5 0JW
Description
About the event
Come along to Felix Road Adventure Playground where children's food will be the topic of the day! We will be launching the Freedom Kids Podcast 'What I Eat After School' and running hands on workshops with The Children's Kitchen. You can tell us what you'd like to find out about food with the Food Education Charter and enjoy a free lunch cooked by resident chef Nirmal...and play in the playground, of course!
This event is free to attend for both children and adults. You can drop in at any time between 1pm and 4.30pm, and you don't need a ticket - you can just show up! But you can save a place on this page you prefer to have things booked.
This is a collaborative event organised by Feeding Bristol and Eastside Community Trust.
What is Food Justice Fortnight?

Food Justice Fortnight is a series of summer events hosted by Feeding Bristol and its fantastic partner organisations.
What do we hope to achieve? We want to...
- celebrate communities and platform the incredible work happening to champion Food Justice in Bristol
- make space for important conversations about Food Justice
- connect individuals, organisations, and communities to help build the city’s food resilience
Along with our fantastic co-hosts, we put on an array of events all over Bristol; expect supper clubs, workshops, panel discussions, strategic meetings, food skills activities and a lot of shared meals!

Sharing our Food Stories
This year's theme is 'Sharing our Food Stories', which we hope will highlight the way food can nurture a sense of identity while helping build stronger connections through the power of storytelling.
A food story can belong to anyone, and it can be shared in many ways. It could belong to a person, a community, a family, an organisation, a group of friends or a whole country, and it can be shared through words, food, pictures, music, art, dance, or any other way. By sharing and listening to each other’s stories, we can remind ourselves that food is part of what makes us human and how it’s a language that we can all speak.
