Concert A 11 October 2026 Thomas Kelly piano
THOMAS KELLY piano
Thomas Kelly has enjoyed successes at a number of major piano competitions, including the Leeds and the Liszt Utrecht, and has played at many leading international venues. His repertory ranges from Scarlatti and Mozart to technically demanding arrangements by Busoni and others, including Liszt, whose own symphonic poem, Orpheus – a nobly lyrical hymn in praise of the spirit of music – is heard here.
The recital begins with Schubert’s delightful Op. 90 Impromptus and comes to a magisterial conclusion with Rachmaninov’s prodigious Variations on a Theme of Chopin, in which ‘the outrageous virtuosity’ with Thomas has been credited is given full rein.
‘His talent is blazingly unique. I was bowled over.’
Michael Church, BBC Music Magazine
