Known for her captivating capacity for communication and connection with audiences, the soprano Ruby Hughes has always enjoyed exploring a wide range of styles and idioms from Elizabethan to the present day. Her regular partner the Swedish lutenist Jonas Nordberg similarly finds inspiration in crossing musical borders and together they have created this lovingly curated programme harnessing the beguiling, mellifluous qualities of voice and lute.
Music by leading composers of the Elizabethan and Baroque periods – Purcell, John Dowland and Robert Johnson, who worked with Shakespeare, producing music for some of his later plays – is interlaced with two eloquent contemporary settings of the Bard.
