Wines of Central Europe

Dry January is behind us, and The Fellowship of the Vine is back for its first tasting of 2027. Join us on Thursday 4 February for a cosy evening exploring Central Europe — the perfect excuse to escape the winter chill and settle in with good wine and good company.

We’ll taste five wines from Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, exploring the grapes, places and people behind each bottle. Expect established favourites alongside lesser-known corners of the wine map.

There’s far more to this part of Europe than Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. Centuries of winemaking, shared traditions and a new generation of curious producers make it a rewarding place to explore. We’ll look at what links these countries, what sets them apart, and why their wines deserve a spot on your table.

Expect a relaxed, guided tasting with stories behind the wines, time for questions and plenty of conversation. Come with friends or come on your own — pull up a chair and we’ll take care of the pouring.

Five wines. Five countries. No wine knowledge needed — just come ready to try something new.
