Language Justice Across South-South Migration

Tamara Isaac FCRJ's 2025/26 Activist-in-Residence shares findings from her project, Language Justice Across South-South Migration: Tools for Dignified Integration.

Drawing on trauma-informed focus groups with Black immigrants from Haiti, West Africa and Central Africa, and an organisational assessment conducted with immigrant-serving organisations in Brazil, Tamara's research traces how language access shapes everyday experiences of racialised exclusion and what it would take to build more dignified, multilingual systems of care.

This event is open to all. We particularly welcome trauma-informed practitioners, migrant support and justice organisations, interpreters and anyone working at the intersection of race, migration and language access.
