The Build-Up to D-Day - a talk by Ben Mayne

It is well-known that 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, when the allied armies landed on the beaches of Normandy and helped bring about the eventual defeat of German Nazi forces.

We are privileged to welcome Ben Mayne of the Liberation Route Europe who will talk about the build-up to D-Day, the importance, the impact and experiences of both military personnel and civilians with particular emphasis on the route taken from London, through Hampshire to the south coast.

Ben will also tell us a little about the LRE Foundation which is dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the Second World War and ensuring that the history is not lost to younger generations.
