Approaching Energy with Aranya

Energy is one of the foundations of good permaculture design - but what does it mean to work with energy rather than simply trying to use less of it?

In this Campfire, experienced permaculture educator and designer Aranya will introduce the concept of energy in permaculture and explore how we can apply it across different contexts, from farms, gardens and allotments to conservation and the built environment.
We'll look at ideas including energy conservation, energy flows and passive solar, considering how paying attention to energy can help us make better design decisions and use resources more effectively.

This session will take a broad look at energy in permaculture, rather than focusing specifically on household energy and retrofitting - we'll explore those questions in more depth in our following Campfire, Rethinking Energy at Home.

About Aranya
Aranya has been teaching permaculture since 2004 and has taught more than 100 Permaculture Design Courses. He completed his Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design in 2003 and is a Senior Tutor in the British Diploma system. He is the author of Permaculture Design: a Step-by-Step Guide and has extensive experience in permaculture design, education, gardening and land-based projects.
