Fife Writes - Open Mic
Venue. St Andrews New Kirk @ St Leonard’s (formerly St Leonard’s Parish Church), 9 Hepburn Gardens, St Andrews KY16 9DF
Our Spoken Word, Open Mic Events are open to everyone. They offer an opportunity both to read your own work, and to hear what other writers in Fife are producing. They are informal, friendly, and relaxed.
Tickets/Reservations are not essential, and you can just turn up at the door. However, it would be helpful if you could register, using the link here, so that we have an idea of how many we are expecting.
If you would like to take to the microphone and read some of your work, we recommend that you reserve a slot to make sure you don't miss out. To book a reading slot, please email fife.writes@gmail.com with your name and Fife Writes membership number (if applicable – we can find this if you’ve lost it and don't worry if you're not a member, you can still book a slot and read.)
Slots are limited and will be around 5 minutes each in duration. Please try not to go over this to allow everyone a chance to read. As a rough guide, 5 minutes is around 750 words of prose.
Priority for reading will be given to Fife Writes members but we welcome new readers of all ages and abilities. If you would like to join Fife Writes, please follow this link https://www.fifewrites.org.uk/membership.
If there is time, those wishing to read who have not reserved a slot will be given the chance to do so at the end, first come, first served, if time allows.
Refreshments (tea/coffee/juice/biscuits) will be provided. Donations will be welcomed.
Register – click button above. Note we operate a 'Pay what you can ' scheme. Select either a £5/£10 ticket to donate to Fife Writes. This money helps pay for the venue and refreshments provided. However, you may select 'Free' for a free ticket if you would prefer not to donate at this time.
