Equality Impact Assessments: Feminist Power, Policy Disruption

Come along to a free FiLiA Women’s Assembly (FWA) ONLINE event for Women only.

Join us online on Wednesday 5th August, from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., for a session exploring how the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) should work for women – and how understanding Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) can become a powerful tool for feminist challenge and change.

This webinar is designed for women actively involved in campaigning, as well as any woman who wants to question or challenge public decisions that affect their lives.

The session will be led by Sarah Tanburn, campaigner and veteran equality assessor, who will guide participants through how PSED and EqIAs can be used to hold public bodies and Government to account.

The FWA is a network focused on encouraging women to enter or strengthen their involvement in the women’s liberation movement and to ensure that women's voices are heard by politicians and policy makers. It's open to all women who are looking for sisterhood, solidarity and the skills, partnerships and knowledge to take part in or lead successful campaigns on the issues that matter to them.

The Assembly has been holding meetings, events and training sessions in cities across the UK where FiLiA conferences have taken place;

• Creating spaces for women to come together.
• Facilitating events that focus on the issues local women raise as important.
• Providing opportunities for women to become involved in and make progress with campaigns, including through training and skills sharing.
• Supporting the creation of local feminist discussion groups.
• Offering women opportunities to participate in formal and informal consultations.
