The Art of Belonging
This is the first in a series of Book+ Art study groups I developed and led online (via email resources and later with Zoom group sessions) starting in 2019; I'd like to make them accessible now anytime to those who would like to try a self-paced, art-based approach to personal growth. This one has six modules which, for the group I led, were offered every two weeks. You may take more or less time based on your life circumstances :)
The Art of Belonging is based on the work of Toko-Pa Turner in her first book, Belonging (and I can't wait to develop a course for her most recent one, The Dreaming Way). Best to have a copy of the book and be reading along, though you could find inspiration and connection through the art and writing prompts alone, should it be difficult to come by the book.
I choose books that resonate with me personally around themes of self-inquiry, healing, curiosity, and then based on my training and experience, I introduce an expressive arts, somatic and nature-oriented lens as a way to understand and integrate the material. I'm always interested to hear recommendations for future books to adapt into this interactive, integrative format.
When you register you'll receive an email with six PDFs, meant to chart a path through the book and offer creative invitations and questions to support self-reflection and insight.
I do not coordinate Zoom calls or check-ins with this format, and it is in no way meant to replace therapy. I do love to hear from those who take the course and am open to feedback and suggestions for improving and expanding this offering. What did you love? What didn't work so well for you?
* other courses coming soon including The Art of Wonder and The Art of Money *
