It’s that time of year again when the First Church family gathers to pack meals (in partnership with Kids Around the World) and help with a Back2School Bash at Coventry Elementary!

Friday, August 11 Coventry School

We’re looking for about a dozen volunteers for Friday, August 11 to help with games, crafts and a host of fun activities and services at Coventry. It all starts with setup at 1 p.m. . . . followed by the fun stuff from 2-5 p.m. . . . and clean up from 5-6 p.m. It’s our chance to partner with our friends at Coventry Elementary and help get the new school year started off right for the children and families who are part of that community.

Meal Pack Event

Sunday, August 13 MCC

We’ll be packing meals at McHenry County College on Sunday, August 13, continuing what has become a tradition in ministry for First Churchers. The schedule for the day looks like this . . .

• 7:30 am – 9:30 am set up at MCC (need about a dozen volunteers)

• 10 am- 12:15 pm EVERYONE packs meals . . . there is room for everyone!

• 12:15 pm – 1 pm cleanup (need about 12 folks who can stick around and help)

This year, our EVENT at MCC will reach the ONE MILLION MEALS PACKED threshold for First Church (since we started this ministry). Now that’s something to celebrate!

Food Drive

At the Sunday event, we’ll also be collecting food for the Crystal Lake Food Pantry

Most requested items are: canned soups, canned beef stew, canned meat, SpaghettiOs, canned ravioli, dry sides: (Hamburger Helper, mashed potatoes) spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, canned vegetables, paper products, protein drinks, cereal, syrup, ramen, canned peaches, canned corn, canned or dry beans: black, kidney & pinto, feminine products, household cleaning/detergents, condiments
