Porto.Anim - Mostra de Cinema de Animação

Nos últimos anos, a animação portuguesa tem estado em destaque – e pelos melhores motivos: o país assistiu a um aumento na produção de longas e curtas-metragens de animação por uma nova geração de autores – feitos históricos como o de Ice Merchants, que deu a Portugal a sua primeira nomeação para os Óscares, um prémio no Festival de Cannes e o segundo Annie Award português, apenas dois anos após a conquista de Regina Pessoa nos Annies com o muito celebrado Tio Tomás, A Contabilidade dos Dias. Além disso, no ano passado, Percebes venceu o Cristal em Annecy no ano em que a animação portuguesa foi o grande destaque do festival, celebrando os cem anos de produções de animação em Portugal. Todas estas conquistas ajudaram a dar visibilidade a esta nova vaga de cineastas e à maravilhosa animação que, todos os anos, sai de Portugal.

O objetivo do Porto.Anim é mostrar o trabalho deste grupo diverso de artistas talentosos e aproximar o grande público da fantástica animação que está a ser criada pela cidade.

Nesta edição dá-mos destaque à cooperativa BAP. Criada em 2011 como a estúdio de animação da produtora Bando à Parte, a cooperativa tornou-se autonoma em 2018 e desde então tem-se destacado pela criação de diversas produções autorais exibidas e premiadas em alguns do mais importantes festivais do panorama internacional: Annecy, Cannes, Sundance, Zagreb, Toronto, Locarno, a lista continua…     

Na terceira edição do evento destacamos a obra dos realizadores e duos de realizadores que compõem integram a cooperativa: David Doutel e Vasco Sá, Laura Gonçalves e Alexandra Ramires, Marta Reis Andrade e Marta Sousa Ribeiro, Leonor Pacheco, Vitor Hugo Rocha e Dimitri Mihajlovic e Miguel Lima

In recent years, Portuguese animation has been in the spotlight for the best reasons:

The country saw an increase in the output of animated features and shorts from a new generation of authors - the historic feats of films like Ice Merchants, which gave Portugal its first Academy Award Nomination, an award at the Cannes Film Festival and Portugal’s second Annie Award, just two short years after Regina Pessoa’s award at the Annies with the much-celebrated Uncle Thomas: Accounting for the Days. In addition, Percebes won the Crystal Award at Annecy last year, in the same year Portuguese animation was the highlight of the festival, celebrating Portugal's one-hundredth anniversary of animation productions. All these achievements have helped to bring some attention to this new wave of filmmakers and the wonderful animation being released every year from Portugal.

The goal of Porto.Anim is to showcase the work of this diverse group of talented artists and bring the general public closer to the fantastic animation being created throughout the city.

In this edition of Porto.Anim we highlight the cooperative BAP. Created in 2011 as the animation studio of Bando à Parte, the cooperative became autonomous in 2018. Since its inception, it has been responsible for the creation of several authorial animation short films selected and awarded in some of the most prestigious film festivals in the world: Annecy, Cannes, Sundance, Zagreb, Toronto, Locarno, the list goes on…
