đ Reimagining Mapping - Synergies between Networks for Systems Transformation
Thu 20 Jun 2024 15:00 - 16:30 CEST
Online, Zoom
Description
đĽˇÂ Unleash your Inner Networks Ninja
There is incredible potential in mapping networks to reveal opportunities for shifting systems and transforming our societies. Yet to date, most network and systems mapping is performed in a way that is static, and difficult to interpret for the average user.Â
đ Re-Inventing Social Systems Mapping
In this session, we will focus on how we can integrate practical strategies for mapping networks that enable data collection, analysis, and visualization tailored to the complexities of modern systems. We'll delve into techniques that help us identify strategic leverage points and knowledge gaps within interconnected networks, empowering targeted interventions and collaborative solutions. Additionally, we'll highlight the pivotal role of collaborative mapping in fostering communication, coordination, and collective action among diverse stakeholders, from grassroots communities to global decision-makers.
đĄÂ Practice New Techniques Live
In this collaborative session, we will actually practice mapping together, and gain actionable insights into how we can:
- Read maps to identify opportunities across networks for collaborative action that enable broader, more systemic change
- Analyze impact at an ecosystem level, noting ripples of change across multiple networks and initiatives
- Integrate stories that highlight the complexity of change processes across these networks
đ§Â With Leaders in Network Mapping
You will be guided by:
Jeff Mohr is the co-founder and CEO of Kumu, and he brings an appreciation for and understanding of systems, networks, and complexity. Kumu is in the phase of re-design, and Jeff is looking for feedback on what an upgraded version can look like. Jeff also serves as Advisor, Strategy & Governance, for The Omidyar Group, and serves on the boards of Humanity United and Jounce Partners.
June Holley has for 20+ years consulted, trained and coached networks around the world interested in shifting systems. She has spent many years helping design technologies that support self-organization, collaboration, innovation and learning. She is also a core supporter of the Fito Network, the author of the Network Weaver Handbook and the founder of www.networkweaver.com.
Luz Mariela Avruj has for 25+ years worked at the crossroads of education, social development, and networks in Latin America and around the world. At CLAYSS, she promotes the formation, weaving and strengthening of networks. She has for many years experimented with network mapping processes, including more recently with the Fito Network mapmakers.

Maria Balcazar Tellez is a strategic advisor, collaborator, and facilitator. As a Systems Change Consultant, she supports teams tackle complex challenges by leveraging systems thinking, design, and emergent strategy principles. Over the last ten years, Maria has focused on understanding food and agricultural systems, exploring pathways to transformation, and activating teams to co-build the food futures we desperately need. As a Meridian Affiliate, she has co-led their systems mapping efforts to track and understand the current landscape of food system initiatives.
