How can we foster safe, engaging, and mutually supportive spaces for exchange, action, and learning within our respective communities of practice? 

Communities of practice (CoPs) are important tools for fostering learning, connection, and wellbeing – helping us accelerate our capacity to achieve social change collaboratively. CoPs can provide supportive and inclusive environments for sharing knowledge, skills, and experiences, and collectively working towards achieving shared objectives.

But launching and sustaining thriving and effective communities of practice can be challenging for leaders. Some common struggles include fostering engagement and participation, addressing conflicts, and ensuring that the community remains relevant and adaptive to changing circumstances. Leaders must also balance the need for structure and governance with the importance of maintaining a flexible and open community culture. 

This interactive workshop session will:

1. Introduce the Collective Leadership Compass as a potential model for enlivening communities of practice
2. Share several examples of communities of practice, exploring benefits, challenges, and potential success factors
3. Crowd-source and refine success factors through discussion.
