Evaluating network impact
Mon 12 Jun 2023 17:00 - 18:30 CEST
Online, Zoom
Description
What technologies can best help us evaluate relationships, emergent outcomes, and network health?
We all know it: tracking and evaluating impact in networks is an entirely different game. Due to the dynamic nature, it can be quite challenging to know and understand when, where and why impact “happens”.
Rather than applying logic models that assume certain impact pathways, it is therefore more about tracking the conditions that lead to meaningful change, understanding what moves and motivates your members, and being able to capture impact where one might not expect it.
Join these leaders in network impact who will offer you practical examples of how to track and evaluate your network impact – and a chance to practise it with them!
Join us for an exciting event to explore:
Network impact evaluation methods
Collaboration towards higher network impact
You will gain and generate practical insights into how to:
Choose a method to evaluate the impact of your network
Approach partnerships for impact evaluation and improvement

Christina Bowen builds dynamic maps and design human-centered software aimed at coherent futures. her background in wetland ecology and environmental science helps her trace information flows in human organizations and communities. For over two decades she's been learning what living systems principles mean for human groups. Since 2015, Christina has been applying this knowledge using maps to make effective strategic options more visible. Her network landscapes and system maps help people see their way through tangled wicked problems to the opportunities. She loves making knowledge more available to people solving our most pressing problems, and using maps to show what is missing, as well as where to focus.

Dr. Jennifer Lawlor is a member of Visible Network Lab's data science team. She is a community psychologist with expertise in network and systems science, community change efforts, and the use of research evidence. Her research focuses on understanding how community members collaborate and share information to manage complex problems using community engaged and computational tools. She has partnered with communities working in a wide range of issue domains, including: early childhood, substance use, food systems, sexual violence, and K-12 education.
Hosted at the Tech Corner
A busy zone of the festival grounds catches your eye. You feel the energetic buzz of presentations of new technologies – and hear the oo's and ahh's coming from the crowd. Here, technology converges to fuel collaborative networks, featuring immersive displays of network platforms, collaborative tools, decision-making technology, and web 3.0 applications. Engage with augmented reality, intelligent algorithms, and dynamic web applications to empower individuals and foster transformative connections, propelling us towards a future where collaborative networks thrive and catalyze positive change.
What is the Networks Festival?
Embark on a month-long journey filled with connection, curiosity, and play bringing together thousands of changemakers, funders, conveners, companies, and governments to explore the power of networks to transform our world.
As you step into the festival grounds, you'll be greeted by a buzzing atmosphere of excitement and innovation. Everywhere you look, there are people eagerly discussing the latest breakthroughs in network theory, sharing stories of how networks have changed their lives and communities, and dreaming up new ways to harness the power of connections.
Leveraging the power of lived experience, we will strengthen our collective practice, directly increase funding opportunities for networks, and foster new collaborations to scale innovations and amplify transformational impact on the lives of billions around the world.
Whether you're a seasoned networker, curious changemaker, or philanthropist interest in "doing things differently" – there's something for everyone at the Networks Festival. Join us!
