Library Apps Freegal and Medici - Digital Skills Workshop

This workshop is for people with basic digital skills and a love of music. Neil McLaughlin, Service Development Team Leader and Librarian at Barnet libraries will be showing us what is available online through our local library service. He will cover how to join your local library, a brief overview of how to access newspapers and magazines online using PressReader, how to listen to audiobooks using BorrowBox, and how to 'borrow and read' eBooks using Libby. But the main focus of this workshop will be how to access Medici TV (streaming access to Opera, Classical Concerts, Jazz and Blues) and how to access Freegal (music streaming) using your library card (think Spotify for libraries!) Remember to bring along your passwords so you can access the Google Playstore or Apple App Store to be able to download the apps, if you have not already done so. Volunteers will be in the room to help if necessary.

Doors will open at 9.45 and we will start at 10.00am. There will be a short break at around 11.15 and we will finish by 12.30. 

This is the first time we are running a workshop on this topic, and we are delighted to be hosting it during Get Online week 2026.
