About

Fix It Yourself covers repair skills over four hands-on workshops that take place on Friday afternoons at the Camden Fixing Factory. The course is designed to help you save money, cut waste and get hands-on fixing experience in a friendly environment.

By the end of the four sessions, you'll be able to assess, repair, and safely rewire almost any domestic lamp to an industry-standard level, including identifying, sourcing and using the correct replacement parts. But this course is about more than fixing lamps - it's about developing a repair mindset and learning a proven approach that forms an excellent foundation for repair work in general.

Each session builds on the previous one, but not to worry if you can't make them all - you can also attend each event individually.

Suitable for complete beginners. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

This course is perfect for you if want to:

  • be able to start fixing things around the house.
  • learn a technical skill.
  • learn best in a supportive and kind environment.
  • get a feel for electrical items in a safe way.
  • get started in the repair movement.
  • learn something new.
  • be done with buying new things every time they break.
