About
Fix It Yourself Hackney covers essential repair skills over six hands-on workshops. The course is designed to help you save money, cut waste and get hands-on fixing experience in a friendly environment.
This course takes place on Saturday afternoons at the Hackney Fixing Factory from May 16th to June 20th. Each session covers a different topic, so by the end of a term you’ll have learned loads of new skills you can put to use at home!
Each session is designed for beginners and includes a blend of listening, watching demos and hands-on fixing.
Each session builds on the previous one, but not to worry if you can't make them all - you can also attend each event individually.
Participants must be at least 18 years old.
Overview of the eight sessions
Session 1: Rookie Repairer (Learn and practice how to wire plugs and use tools to do so, as well as how to approach repair - learning visual safety inspection of items as a group and individually).

Refunds and cancellations
Bookings are only refundable up until a week before the event. After that point they are non-refundable. This is because we are a charity and need to pay our staff and facilitators/fixers to run events, so we lose charitable income from last-minute cancellations. It may be possible to reschedule your booking, but this is entirely at the workshop manager's discretion and may depend on overall numbers and availability for the particular workshop. Contact us on rhio@therestartproject.org if you want to reschedule.
