SHSM Career Exploration Day at Ontario Power Generation's Darlington Nuclear Generating Station

Flashpoint Training is excited to welcome you to one of Canada's most advanced energy facilities!

This is the first time OPG has opened their doors for career exploration to high school students. We are very excited to offer this to our Flashpoint Students and Teachers.

Imagine exploring one of Ontario's largest nuclear generating stations, travelling through the Darlington Energy Complex on an exclusive guided bus tour, discovering how clean electricity is generated for millions of Ontarians, and hearing directly from the professionals who make it all happen.

Throughout the day, students will participate in an engaging mix of interactive learning, career exploration, workplace safety training, and hands-on discussion while experiencing a workplace few students ever have the opportunity to visit.

Whether students are interested in engineering, skilled trades, environmental science, cybersecurity, business, project management, health and safety, or emergency management, this experience showcases the incredible variety of careers available within Ontario's energy sector.

9:45 AM | Arrival and Security Check-In

10:00 AM | Welcome and SPE-ICE Certification

11:30 AM | Guided Tour of the Darlington Information Centre and Career Panel

12:35 PM | Bus Tour of the Darlington Energy Complex and Lunch

2:00 PM Departure

**This event qualifies for our SHSM Regionals Competition.

Our Event Policies

👥 Student Numbers: Register your expected attendance. Student substitutions are welcome, but additional students require advance approval.

⏰ Deadline for Changes: Attendance numbers can be adjusted up to 30 days before the event. After that, event numbers are considered confirmed.

💰 Payment: Payment is due 30 days before the event to secure your reservation.

🚌 Transportation: We'll work with your school's transportation schedule whenever possible. Please advise us of any special timing requirements in advance.

📅 Event Dates: Dates are subject to partner availability. Final details will be confirmed at least one month before your visit.

🌦️ Weather & Unexpected Closures: Events impacted by weather or school closures will be rescheduled.

🙋 Supervision: Schools are responsible for providing the required number of staff/chaperones in accordance with school board policies.

💻 Absent Students: Students who are unable to attend will still have access to a complimentary online version of the certification included with the event.
