SHSM Career Exploration Day at Young People's Theatre

Flashpoint Training is excited to welcome you behind the scenes at one of Canada's premier professional theatres!

Imagine stepping backstage at Young People's Theatre, exploring areas that audiences never get to see, participating in an interactive theatre workshop led by theatre professionals, and discovering the many exciting careers that bring live productions to life.

This unique SHSM experience goes far beyond acting. Students will gain insight into the creative, technical and business sides of the performing arts while learning from professionals working in marketing, fundraising, education, administration, audience services, and theatre operations.

Throughout the day, students will participate in an engaging mix of career exploration, workplace skill development, and interactive learning while discovering how dozens of different professions work together to create unforgettable performances.

Whether students are interested in the arts, communications, business, marketing, event management, education, or hospitality, this experience highlights the many career pathways available within Canada's vibrant performing arts industry.

Throughout the day, students will participate in an engaging mix of career exploration, workplace skill development, and interactive learning while experiencing a professional theatre from a completely new perspective.

Industry Career PanelOne of the highlights of the day is an engaging Industry Career Panel featuring professionals from Young People's Theatre. Students will hear firsthand about the many opportunities available within a professional theatre organization, learn about different career pathways, and discover the skills and experiences that helped panelists build successful careers.Panelists will share their personal journeys, discuss what a typical day looks like, explain the value of teamwork and collaboration, and offer practical advice for students considering careers in the arts, business, communications, education, customer service, and other related fields.Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable insight into working in one of Canada's leading performing arts organizations.

Our Event Policies

👥 Student Numbers: Register your expected attendance. Student substitutions are welcome, but additional students require advance approval.

Deadline for Changes: Attendance numbers may be adjusted up to 30 days before the event. After that, attendance numbers are considered confirmed.

💰 Payment: Payment is due 30 days before the event to secure your reservation.

🚌 Transportation: We'll work with your school's transportation schedule whenever possible. Please advise us of any special timing requirements in advance.

📅 Event Dates: Dates are subject to partner availability. Final details will be confirmed at least one month before your visit.

🌦️ Unexpected Closures: Events impacted by weather or school closures will be rescheduled.

🙋 Supervision: Schools are responsible for providing the required number of staff/chaperones in accordance with school board policies.

💻 Absent Students: Students who are unable to attend will still have access to a complimentary online version of the certification included with the event.
