An Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Experience at Pearson Airport

What’s cooler than firefighters? Training where firefighters prepare for the real thing.

Take your students behind the scenes at FESTI – the Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute, located at Toronto Pearson Airport.

This is not your typical field trip. Students will step inside a 40-acre emergency-services training facility and discover how firefighters and emergency responders prepare for some of the most challenging situations imaginable—from structural fires and vehicle emergencies to aircraft incidents.

Students will tour specialized training areas, see where firefighters complete physical and practical training, learn about the equipment and environments used to simulate real emergencies, and hear directly from firefighters about their careers, training and experiences.

It’s an opportunity to see emergency-response training up close while exploring the many careers, skills and pathways connected to fire and emergency services.

9:30 AM | Arrival at FESTI

9:45 AM | Welcome & Group Orientation

Students divide into two groups and rotate through the FESTI and Flashpoint experiences.

10:00 AM | Firefighter Career Talk
Meet firefighters and learn what the career is really like, including education and training pathways, workplace expectations and opportunities within fire and emergency services.

10:30 AM | Inside Firefighter Physical Training
Get an inside look at the physical preparation and skills firefighters need to perform safely and effectively in demanding environments.

11:00 AM | FESTI Training Grounds Experience
Explore FESTI’s specialized outdoor training areas and see the environments used to prepare firefighters for real-world emergencies—including aircraft and vehicle incidents, simulated structures and other emergency-response scenarios.

11:45 AM | Return Indoors & Experience Debrief

12:00 PM | Pizza Lunch

More Than a Fire Station Tour

Students aren't simply learning about firefighting—they're visiting the environment where emergency responders actually train.They’ll leave with a better understanding of the realities of the profession, the skills required to succeed, the range of careers connected to emergency response, and the training that happens long before firefighters arrive at an emergency.

Our Event Policies

👥 Student Numbers: Register your expected attendance. Student substitutions are welcome, but additional students require advance approval. 

⏰ Deadline for Changes: Attendance numbers can be adjusted up to 3 weeks before the event. After that event numbers are "locked-in" as the kids say.

💰 Payment: Payment for Events is due a min of 30 days before the Event or we will not hold your reservation

🚌 Scheduling: We’ll do our best to accommodate your bus schedule. Please let us know about any timing requirements as early as possible.

📅 Event Dates: Dates may change based on partner availability. Final details will be confirmed at least 1 month before your visit.

🌦️ Weather Closures: Events affected by weather or unexpected school closures will be rescheduled.

🙋 Supervision: Please provide the required number of staff/chaperones according to your school board’s guidelines.

💻 No-Shows: Absent students will be charged the full event fee but may access a complimentary online training session for the same certification.
