Flashpoint Training is excited to welcome you to Behind the Stay: The Business of Hotels at Alt Hotel Pearson!

Ever wonder what really happens behind the scenes at a busy airport hotel?

Students will step inside Alt Hotel Pearson to explore the business of hospitality and discover the people, careers, and operations that come together to create an exceptional guest experience.

A hotel is much more than its front desk. It is a fast-paced business that brings together customer service, food and beverage, housekeeping, facilities, sales and marketing, events, technology, finance, human resources, and management—all working together every day.

In small groups of approximately 20 students, participants will go behind the scenes to explore different areas of the hotel, learn how departments work together, and meet hospitality professionals who can share their own career pathways and experiences. Students will gain insight into both the highly visible roles that interact directly with guests and the many careers operating behind the scenes.

Students will also complete their SPE training with Flashpoint Training, with Alt Hotel Pearson serving as the industry sector partner. The experience will connect SPE learning directly to a real hospitality workplace, giving students the opportunity to see how the concepts they explore apply within the industry.

To make the day even more experiential, students will participate in a hands-on hospitality activity at the hotel, providing another opportunity to experience the skills, teamwork, service, and attention to detail that are central to the hospitality industry.

It’s a chance to go beyond the lobby and discover what it really takes to operate a successful hotel—and the many career opportunities that exist within the business of hospitality.

Join us for an amazing day where your students will learn all about the Business of Hotels from an amazing Canadian Hotel Chain.

Our Event Policies

👥 Student Numbers: Register your expected attendance. Student substitutions are welcome, but additional students require advance approval. 

⏰ Deadline for Changes: Attendance numbers can be adjusted up to 4 weeks (30 days) before the event. After that event numbers are "locked-in" as the kids say.

💰 Payment: Payment for Events is due 30 days before the Event or we will not hold your reservation

🚌 Scheduling: We’ll do our best to accommodate your bus schedule. Please let us know about any timing requirements as early as possible.

📅 Event Dates: Dates may change based on partner availability. Final details will be confirmed at least 1 month before your visit.

🌦️ Weather Closures: Events affected by weather or unexpected school closures will be rescheduled.

🙋 Supervision: Please provide the required number of staff/chaperones according to your school board’s guidelines.

💻 No-Shows: Absent students will be charged the full event fee but may access a complimentary online training session for the same certification.
