Through an industry-led career talk, an interactive heavy machinery experience and a competitive SPE-LEGO building challenge, students will discover the skills, technology and career opportunities in this growing sector.

What does it take to become a heavy equipment operator? What training is required, and where can a career in construction take you?

Industry professionals will introduce students to careers in heavy equipment operation, construction, equipment maintenance, site supervision and infrastructure development.

Students will explore apprenticeship and training pathways, industry certifications, workplace expectations and the skills employers look for when hiring the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

They'll also discover how technology, automation and new equipment are changing the construction industry and creating exciting career opportunities.

THE LEGO SPE CHALLENGE

It's time to put engineering and construction skills to the test! Working in teams, students will be tested on their building skills in this Lego SPE, where they will have to solve a challenge using their building skills and Lego models.

Students will present their designs, explain their construction decisions and demonstrate how they addressed real-world engineering challenges. Industry representatives will provide feedback and help recognize the winning teams.
