Give it a Go: Photography in Dean Village

Start the New Year by learning something new!

Our new ‘Give it a Go’ series is all about trying something you’ve perhaps always fancied doing, learning a new skill and having fun along the way.

For our first event, join experienced photographer Claudia Scandella for a relaxed introduction to photography in one of Edinburgh’s most photogenic neighbourhoods – Dean Village.

We’ll start with the basics before heading out with Claudia for a wander through Dean Village, learning how to look at things differently, frame a great shot and make the most of the camera you already have.

We’ll then return to the Flavours office, where our chef Scott will have a delicious lunch waiting for us. After lunch, Claudia will lead a relaxed creative session where you can look at some of the photographs you’ve taken, pick up more tips and put what you’ve learned into practice.

Who is it for?

Absolutely no photography experience is needed. If you’ve ever thought “I’d love to take better photographs”, this is your chance to give it a go in a friendly, encouraging environment with fellow Amici.

What should I bring?

Simply bring something that takes photographs – your phone is absolutely fine. If you have a camera you’d like to use, bring that along instead.

What will I learn?

Claudia will introduce you to some simple techniques that can make a real difference to your photographs – from composition and light to interesting angles and spotting a great picture.

Most importantly, we hope you’ll leave having learned a new skill, taken some photographs you’re proud of and perhaps discovered a new passion for the year ahead.
