Join Scott for a winter stravaig – the Scots word for a wander – through some of Glasgow’s finest independent food businesses.
Scott has personally chosen some of his favourite stops for the day, giving us the chance to discover the bakers, food shops and producers that he thinks are doing something particularly special in Glasgow.
We’ll begin at Ashton Lane, outside the iconic Ubiquitous Chip, before making our way along Great Western Road. Along the way, Scott will introduce us to some of his favourite independent food spots, including Cottonrake Bakery, Valhalla’s Goat and Roots & Fruits, sharing what he likes about them and what makes each worth discovering.
Our stravaig will take us towards Kelvinbridge and Gibson Street, finishing at Stravaigin, a Glasgow institution founded by the late Ronnie Clydesdale, one of the city’s most celebrated restaurateurs. Here we’ll sit down together for lunch and have the opportunity to try Stravaigin’s renowned in-house haggis, made to the same recipe for more than 20 years.
It’s a relaxed way to discover another side of Glasgow’s food scene, spend time with fellow Amici and see the city through the eyes of our Flavours chef.
A note about the walking
The stravaig will involve approximately 90 minutes of walking, with plenty of stops along the way. Guests should be comfortable walking around the city and we recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
