Discover the rich and fascinating world of the Pre-Raphaelites in this six-week course, exploring one of the most influential and visually captivating movements in British art. Each week we will examine the lives and works of key artists including Millais, Rossetti, Holman Hunt, Burne-Jones and William Morris, alongside the ideas that shaped the movement and its enduring legacy.
Sophie will combine a thematic overview from art history with practical drawing, encouraging participants to develop their own observational skills while exploring themes such as symbolism, portraiture, mythology and decorative design.
The course will also shine a light on the remarkable women who helped shape the movement, including artists Elizabeth Siddal, Evelyn De Morgan and Marie Spartali Stillman, as well as influential models such as Jane Morris, Fanny Cornforth and Annie Miller, whose stories reveal a more complex and inspiring picture of Pre-Raphaelite art.
All levels welcome, we look forward to seeing you there!
