We present the Night of Flight-Free Adventure! Inspiration with a twist.

Taking to the stage will be 12 speakers from across the travel and adventure spectrum, each with a fascinating travel story to tell. The challenge is that each speaker has just 6 minutes and 40 seconds to tell their story, with 20 slides that scroll automatically every 20 seconds. This format of storytelling is called PechaKucha, and it results in a whirlwind of an event that is guaranteed to inspire!

Our speakers have travelled far and wide without flying, from hyper-local adventures to world-wide odysseys. The thing that unites them is their passion for travel that doesn't cost the earth.

Night of Flight Free Adventure is Flight Free UK's first big fundraiser of the year, and we know it's going to be a night to remember.

Join us in London for the full in-person experience, or join online from the comfort of your own home.

Tickets cost £30, or it's £16 to join online.

About the charity

Flight Free UK encourages people to travel without flying to reduce emissions and create a social shift away from flying. We educate the public on the climate impact of aviation and give information and inspiration for travel by other means. We run the Flight Free Challenge for people to take one year off flying to break a habit and try the alternatives. You can find out more about our work at www.flightfree.co.uk.

About the host

The event will be hosted by Alastair Humphreys, adventurer extraordinaire and author. He has been on expeditions all around the world, travelling through over 80 countries by bicycle, boat and on foot. Alastair was named as one of National Geographic’s Adventurers of the year for 2012, and in 2023, The Royal Geographical Society gave him the Ness Award for ‘his long-standing contributions to promoting a greater understanding of our world and wider public engagement with the outdoors.’

Alastair created the Night of Adventure format many years ago, and we are thrilled that he is hosting our flight-free version.

Q: Will it be recorded?
A: The event will be recorded and will be available to watch back afterwards by those who have bought a ticket.

Q: If I can no longer attend in person, can I watch the event online?
A: Yes. If you have bought an in-person ticket but are no longer able to attend, you can email us to request the online event link. We will send you the link and free up your seat for someone else to attend. You can contact us either by replying to your original confirmation email or by emailing Maddy@flightfree.co.uk.

Q: I'm not available on the day, but I'd like to watch the recording at a later date. Should I still buy a ticket?
A: Yes, you will need to buy a ticket in order to watch the recording. Please select an online ticket, and you will be sent the link to the livestream as well as the recording after the event is over.

A: After the cost of hosting this event has been deducted, all proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the work of Flight Free UK.

Q: What is PechaKucha?
A: PechaKucha originated in Japan and has now become a format used world-wide. With 20 slides that automatically move on after 20 seconds it encourages speakers to tell their story with as little 'waffle' as possible, leading to dynamic, fast-paced and engaging talks. The perfect way to share stories of epic adventure!
