Science of Deeper Learning: Checking for Understanding with Teach Like A Champion Workshop

The Florida Charter Institute is excited to welcome back Doug Lemov and the Teach Like a Champion team professional learning opportunities in the summer of 2026. Teach Like a Champion will offer two sessions across three workshop days running from Tuesday, July 28-Thursday, July 30. Participants can attend one or both sessions.

The Wednesday and Thursday Workshop will focus on the science of deeper learning, with a deep dive into checking for understanding.

The Workshop will run from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (with registration/breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m.). We ask that participants are ready for the session to begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.

As part of their registration, all attendees will receive a copy of Teach Like a Champion 3.0, offering additional resources on session content and additional instructional practice.

• Date: Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30
  

• Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (with registration and breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. each day)

• Location: Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus (300 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL). Free parking is available.
  

• Cost: $400 (typically $1000+)

• Recommended Attendees: We recommend that schools bring teams of 4-10 teachers and leaders across a range of grade levels and contents.

• Meals: Light breakfast and lunch are included each day.

• Inservice Points: Inservice points are available. Please bring your FDOE License number to registration.

• Hotels: For out of town attendees, there are a number of Miami hotels within walking distance, including The Elser, and the CitizenM - Miami Worldcenter.
