Join us for our Winter Lecture Season
The Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation is excited to announce tickets are available for the Winter Lecture Series as part of our annual season of thirteen lectures each year. The first three presentations will focus on “Growing up in the Florida Keys.” The fourth lecture in the Winter Series will be presented by Mote Marine Laboratory featuring Dr. Grace Klinges from Mote.
Take a step back in time as the FKHDC brings you guests who will be sharing their true stories and memories of what it was like growing up in the Florida Keys.
Each of the four lectures start at 6:00 pm featuring special guests all who experienced growing up in the Florida Keys. Doors open at 5:00 pm with light appetizers and cash bar.
LECTURE DATES AND SPECIAL GUESTS:
January 11, 2023: Part 1 features Jacquelyn Wrenn Ekblom, Peggy Byrne Thompson, and Tom Wrenn.
Guests will enjoy first-hand accounts from residents who grew up in the Florida Keys and have epic anecdotes to share from their years attending Coral Shores High School. Tickets available for Part 1: Click here to register.
January 25, 2023: Part 2 features Carol Ross, Elenor Arce, and Claudia Clark.
Join us for a walk down memory lane from the perspective of life as a Florida Keys’ teenager in the 1960’s. Tickets available for Part 2: Click here to register.
February 8, 2023: Part 3 features Len Rhodus and others TBD.
Len grew up in Plantation Key and will be joined by others who have experienced the transformational history of the area since the 1950’s. Tickets available for Part 3: Click here to register.
February 22, 2023: features Dr. Grace Klinges, who will be presenting on behalf of Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium here in the Florida Keys.
Her research here in the Florida Keys centers around the discovery and characterization of a prolific bacterial parasite of Caribbean acroporid corals also known as “reef building corals” that contributes to the disease. Tickets available: Click here to register.

Seats are allocated until capacity is reached or until registration for in-person attendance closes on Monday prior at 5 p.m. If capacity is reached you will be able to join a waitlist.
