Kate Noakes, Esme Allman & Liz Berry: Body Poetics

What can poetry reveal about the body — its pleasures, vulnerabilities, histories and transformations? Join three distinctive poets for an afternoon of readings and conversation exploring the body, in sickness and in health.

Liz Berry’s acclaimed poetry collection The Home Child is a novel in verse. A recipient of the Somerset Maugham Award, Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize and two Forward Prizes, she is also the poet behind ‘Homing’, now on the GCSE English syllabus.

Clifton-based poet and non-fiction writer Kate Noakes’s new collection Sublime Lungs explores the body and its landscapes. She also leads the Lyra Festival’s Clifton poetry walk.

Esme Allman’s debut collection Sweet Bone Girl explores history, imagined worlds and desire through the lens of Black femininity. Together, they will read from their work and discuss how poetry can make the body newly visible.
