Young Writers Awards: Young Writers Competition and Prize Giving

Join us at Clifton Literary Festival as we celebrate the imagination, originality and talent of Bristol’s young writers. Our 2026 Young Writers Competition invited pupils in Years 9 to 13 to explore the theme “The Voice” or “Voices” through fiction and non-fiction. From voices that inspire, challenge and unite to those that question, remember or create change, the entries reveal how a new generation sees itself and the world around it.

On Saturday 14 November, we will announce the winners and runners-up in each age group and category, with prizes of £100 and £50 respectively. Award-winning actor Paul McGann will bring the winning words to life by reading extracts aloud, giving our young authors the unique experience of hearing their work performed by a celebrated professional.
