So said the great West Country writer and poet Laurie Lee in a series of conversations with David Parker, recorded for television in the 1990s.

Join us for a special evening celebrating Lee’s life, writing and extraordinary imagination, presented by Laurie Lee expert David Parker. Through archive film, poetry, prose and music, David brings to life the Gloucestershire landscapes that shaped one of Britain’s most loved writers.

Drawing on unique television interviews with Lee, we hear him talk about his childhood, his love of music and the violin, and the changing character of the Cotswold countryside. His words and poetry are accompanied by evocative archive film and live music from the Bristol Metropolitan Ensemble, including Vivaldi’s ever-popular The Four Seasons.

With candlelight, music and a glass of Prosecco, this promises to be an atmospheric and intimate evening – a chance to experience the world that inspired Laurie Lee.
