Pete Brownlee: Robin Prytherch - The Buzzard Man: A film by Pete Brownlee

A special screening of Pete Brownlee’s film Robin Prytherch – The Buzzard Man, celebrating the life of the Clifton naturalist who became a respected member of the BBC’s Natural History Unit and a world-renowned expert on buzzards.

Through interviews with those who knew him, alongside archive film, photographs and Robin’s own drawings, the film traces how a boyhood passion for birdwatching became his profession and, after retirement, a lifelong fascination with buzzards. A trained draughtsman and accomplished artist, Robin left a remarkable legacy of detailed drawings of individual birds, many reproduced in A Life With Buzzards by Lyndon Roberts, published by Bristol Books.

Pete Brownlee, who knew Robin at the BBC, was inspired to make the film after reading Lyndon’s book.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with friends and experts who knew Robin.
