In his new book, The Science of Happiness, Bruce Hood asks what really makes us happy – and why do we so often get it wrong? He draws on more than four decades as an experimental developmental psychologist to explore what really makes for a happier life – and how we can change the way we think and behave to achieve it.

In conversation with Andrew Kelly, Bruce will reveal why the things we often believe will make us happy – possessions, status and success – can leave us wanting more, and how our childhood ways of thinking continue to influence our adult lives. He explores why changing our sense of self, our relationships with others and the way we see the world can make a real difference to our happiness.

Bruce is Professor of Developmental Psychology at the University of Bristol and has held academic positions at Cambridge, UCL, MIT and Harvard. He is the author of five popular science books.
