Join story-walker Clare Reddaway as she tells stories, real and imagined, inspired by the landscape around us. Be a local tourist: experience a familiar place through the wide and curious eyes of a newcomer.
Stroll along a tree-lined promenade to find a snuff mill and an Iron Age fort, a masterpiece of Victorian engineering and a hermit’s cave. Wonder at the flickering images of early photography, marvel at some mighty mansions and might even encounter the odd runaway monkey as we go. Expect spectacular views!
The walk lasts around 1 hour 50 minutes, beginning and ending at Clifton Library. There is a gentle climb to Clifton Down and one short steep slope to the Observatory. Created in 2026, this is its first Clifton LitFest outing.

Start and end at Clifton Library, Princess Victoria Street, BS8 4BX
