Rubies and Remembrance: A Story Walk through Victorian Clifton

Sun 15 Nov 2026 12:30 - 14:00 Clifton library to Birdcage Walk

On Clare’s second walk, we explore Victorian Clifton – a world of jewels and cedar trees, Major Generals and lady novelists, conventional and unconventional living. Originally created for Clifton Litfest in 2022, it’s another chance to experience Clifton through Clare’s curious and captivating eyes.

The walk starts at Clifton Library and crosses Regent Street to Clifton Arcade, Victoria Square and Birdcage Walk. It lasts around 1½ hours and is mainly on level ground.

Walkers have described Clare’s walks as ‘spellbinding’, ‘engaging and informative’, ‘captivating’ and ‘an absolute joy’. See if you agree!
