Plates for Palestine
PLATES FOR PALESTINE focuses on ‘food as a form of resistance’, talking about connection between land & food, stories behind the dishes, and the symbolism of the ingredients.
We have a guest speaker from ZAYTOUN to talk about the promotion of Palestinian food in the face of cultural erasure, and ALL OUR RELATIONS are coming to talk about action against starvation as a weapon of war, and to explain what’s happening on the ground with aid & food supplies in Gaza.
Both speakers will advise on where’s best to put our money so that food and aid gets distributed, and will share what we can do to support the BDS movement, particularly around food items.
The menu by TAAROF will offer a wonderful mixture of traditional recipes and fusion food, all inspired by Palestinian cuisine, using authentic ingredients and locally sourced produce.
Our aim is to encourage positive dialogue and create community over a delicious meal...to share ideas and food together.
The meal is vegetarian, but we can cater for vegans, so please do contact us if you have any questions regarding the menu and we will happily answer them for you. Sadly we cannot cater for any other allergies or intolerances on this occasion. All dishes are halal.
For any questions around the menu or the event, please email folksforfalasteen@gmail.com
Please reserve your PLATE FOR PALESTINE asap, as seats will sell quickly due to popular demand. The suggested donation is £40 per person and all profits will go to MAP. This is an adult only event.
FOLKS FOR FALASTEEN are a group of friends & activists with a shared humanity. Between us,
use our wide variety of talents and skills to spread awareness for Palestine in Brighton & Sussex.
Using food, local crafts, creative workshops, education, dance, Palestinian produce and traditional items such as ceramics & tatreez, building community & conversation around Palestine is at the core of our work, to encourage solidarity & therefore change.
Join us at Exeter Street Hall for an evening of culture, delicious cuisine, conversation & community, to discuss issues of peace, justice, international solidarity and action for Palestine.
It promises to be a gorgeous evening and we are so excited to welcome you & break bread together.
