Food Education Network Brunch - Abergavenny Food Festival
Sun 22 Sep 2024 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Abergavenny Community Centre
Description
Do you work with engaging young people in food? Do you teach kids cooking skills? Are you passionate about sharing how food grows, how to make meals, what healthy foods look like, or how our food choices impact the planet? Are you one of the army of people out there passionate about children being more connected to where food comes from?
Well, come and meet like-minded people at a new event hosted by Abergavenny Food Festival, on Sunday 22nd September from 11am. Based on the friendly, informal network dinners held in London since 2019, this event, generously supported by Abergavenny Food Festival, aims to build the incredible network of food education enthusiasts across the UK, over a delicious, informal (and FREE) vegetarian brunch.
Kim Smith, Food Educator, Researcher and TastEd trustee, is teaming up with the Office of the Future Generations Act Commissioner for Wales to bring together those passionate about food education - in all its forms - to connect, share, and inspire each other. Food is key to a sustainable future, that delivers upon economic, cultural, environmental and social well-being. Equipping children with skills and knowledge about the food we eat and where it comes from, is a vital part of supporting good health for both people and planet.
First, we will hear a range of Fast Food Talks covering local and national perspectives, followed by a chance to meet and chat over food. We invite everyone to come and give a Fast Food Talk – it's a simple yet speedy 5 min talk about your unique approach to food education that overcomes the multiple barriers to food education. No slides, or prep required, just some insights to share with new colleagues!
