About the Series
Advancing Justice in the Community Food Sector is a series of four workshops designed for folks — especially BIPOC — working in community-based programs and organizations that revolve around food. Working in these spaces, it's crucial to have the latest tools, knowledge, and skills to build pathways for professional career advancement.
Through this workshop series, participants will learn and engage with subject matter around: BIPOC solidarity across the non-profit sector, storytelling as a tool for impact, and more.
About this Workshop
Transforming the Non-Profit Sector: Addressing Toxicity in Non-Profits with the Righting Relations team – Vanessa Cook, Wen Chan, and Angelica Quesada
It’s often assumed that non-profit organizations inherently foster healthy and inclusive work environments. However, a recent Righting Relations survey found that 90% of non-profit employees and volunteers experience policies, workplace culture, or power dynamics that adversely affect them. In this webinar, the team from Righting Relations will lead us on a deep dive exploring toxicity in the non-profit sector. Together, we will investigate the root causes of toxic workplace cultures and discuss advocacy strategies for people working in the field, while also exploring the values and actions needed for radical social change.
About Righting Relations
Righting Relations is a growing national network that strives to support and build capacity amongst adult educators and community organizers to provide space and resources for them to connect, reflect on, and organize for heart-led social change. We’re a movement of adult educators and community organizers who are working towards decolonization and radical social change across Turtle Island. Vanessa Cook, Wen Chan, and Angelica Quesada, three of the five co-creators of Righting Relations’ “Addressing Toxicity in Non-profits” Toolkit will facilitate the session.
Priority Ticketing
As part of our ongoing commitment to equity and justice, we are prioritizing access to these workshops for Black and Indigenous people and people of colour (BIPOC).
Priority tickets for these workshops will be made available for BIPOC individuals and BIPOC-led organizations and grassroots community groups who do not have access to large operating budgets to cover the costs of staff training. A limited number of General Admission tickets will also be available, and we will open up a waitlist as needed.
