THE COURSE LEADER: Don Paterson is a multi award-winning poet, writer and musician. For many years he was Professor of Poetry at the University of St Andrews and poetry editor for the London publishers Picador. He recently released a critically acclaimed autobiography ‘Toy Fights: A Boyhood’ published by Faber & Faber.
COURSE CONTENT: THIS MAY BE THE FINAL POETRY STUDIES COURSE SO DON'T MISS OUT ON THE PARTY! This course is a study weekend where Don chooses a series of poems - some famous, some obscure, some old and some new - to share and discuss with the group. Participants sit communally around a table for animated conversation and study during the day, after which there is an evening meal where people are encouraged to share poems or music. On the last day, everyone brings a poem by a poet they’ve recently been reading and wish to share. Working with Don is riveting, and the work and the company always engaging. This is a great situation in which to meet like-minded people, eat delicious home-cooked food and share your love of poetry.
WHO IS IT FOR?: This course is for anyone with an interest in studying poetry in depth, whether or not they are poets themselves.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: You’ll gain some in-depth theory and knowledge about poetry, poets and the history of the art form, plus all aspects of the Stones Barn experience; optional singaround/reading performance on the Saturday evening, great food, time to socialise with new friends and to enjoy the surrounding countryside.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
We allow just a deposit payment to book and secure your place on any and every course. This deposit amount is currently £150. If you notify us of your cancellation within 3+ months of the course you will receive £100 of your £150 deposit back.
Any Notification after this time, regardless of reason, shall not be deemed a reasonable amount of time for us to try to re-fill your place so all of the deposit will be withheld. For this reason, we strongly advise you to book separate event/travel insurance so that you may recover all of your expenses should unforeseen circumstances arise.
We can no longer afford the costs of last-minute refunds in terms of admin or advertising or empty places. Around 5+ people per course are now dropping out for reportedly very serious reasons. This is unsustainable for us because we are a micro business with very fine margins and have not taken this decision lightly.
We will email you four months before the course, to inform you that you have 2 weeks to pay the balances. After the 2 weeks has expired, you may lose your place if payments have not been received. Non-payment of invoices is at your own risk and we will not/ cannot be held responsible for missed payments.
