Why attend an artist residency retreat? For focus, camaraderie, space and inspiration! Come to a beautiful place with breakout spaces both inside and out. Forests, fields, rivers, views, walks, and dark skies. Somewhere you can just focus on your work/hobby and be inspired by others' work too. Sometimes it really helps to have other people around who are working to motivate you to do the same. Is there a project you have had in mind to work on for years and just need to be somewhere where you can focus? This is the universe telling you it's time!

Artistic disciplines: As long as you can bring the equipment that you need with you, you could do a number of different things: singing, songwriting, instrument practice, poetry, research, painting, designing, drawing, photography, sculpture, writing… work on your own discipline with other people who are working on theirs. BE INSPIRED!

Accommodation & ticket pricing: There are different levels of accommodation that we can offer and this will dictate the price you pay for the week because accommodation is included in the overall course cost. We have kept the cost as low as possible because we know it is tough out there.

Bed in a shared twin room: £495

sofa bed in living room: £449

campervan or sleep-in vehicle £449

your own tent: £349

no accommodation (staying elsewhere £300)

Showers are included for all except those staying elsewhere.

Food: Cold breakfast is provided, as is a pre-made hot lunch for the group to warm-up each day. The evening meals are not provided except for the Monday night when you arrive and the big roast on the Saturday night. Various pubs within 10 miles can be booked for the group for the other evening meals or you could arrange to cook for yourselves as a group.

Saturday night: On Saturday night, we will cook our classic big roast dinner and have an informal singaround altogether. Please bring any instruments you would normally perform with. If you don't normally do 'a turn' then maybe there is a piece of work you'd like to exhibit or a poem you'd like to read.

Tutoring: some songwriting instruction/workshop sessions will be led by special guest Rick Kemp (songwriter, producer, bass player, singer).

Wednesday walk: We suggest the group take the lovely stroll along the country lanes to the local church, castle ruins, lime kiln and museum. About 1.5 miles away we have a few choice historic monuments and a museum which will tell you as much as you would like to know about the local area.

Arrival and departure: Arrival is anytime from 5-6pm (to eat together at 7:30pm) on the first day (Monday). Departure is by 10:30am on the last day (Sunday).

Otherwise, your time is your own. Five full days to re-centre yourself in your creativity.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

We allow just a deposit payment to book and secure your place on any and every course. This deposit amount is currently £150. If you notify us of your cancellation within 3+ months of the course you will receive £100 of your £150 deposit back.
Any Notification after this time, regardless of reason, shall not be deemed a reasonable amount of time for us to try to re-fill your place so all of the deposit will be withheld. For this reason, we strongly advise you to book separate event/travel insurance so that you may recover all of your expenses should unforeseen circumstances arise.

We can no longer afford the costs of last-minute refunds in terms of admin or advertising or empty places. Around 5+ people per course are now dropping out for reportedly very serious reasons. This is unsustainable for us because we are a micro business with very fine margins and have not taken this decision lightly.

We will email you four months before the course, to inform you that you have 2 weeks to pay the balances. After the 2 weeks has expired, you may lose your place if payments have not been received. Non-payment of invoices is at your own risk and we will not/ cannot be held responsible for missed payments.

Add emma@stonesbarn.co.uk as a ‘trusted email’ to make sure emails arrive.
