Forró Presents Lara Aredes...

One of the most recognized DJs in the contemporary forró scene, Lara Aredes is originally from the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo and is driven by a deep passion for Brazilian music, especially traditional Forró Pé de Serra.

A resident DJ at the legendary Buraco do Tatu in Itaúnas — one of the most iconic venues in Brazil’s forró scene — Lara has become a regular presence at some of the country’s most important festivals and events dedicated to the genre. Her sets are defined by deep musical research, blending renowned classics with rare gems to create vibrant sonic journeys that celebrate the richness and diversity of Brazilian music.

Through her work, Lara also reflects the growing presence and strength of women in the forró scene, contributing to the expansion and renewal of this musical tradition.

Special Roots Workshop with Felipe Murgel and Alba 7pm to 8pm

From Niterói, Felipe Murgel has been dancing since 2016 and found his home in roots style—intimate, weight-driven and grounded in the strong beat. For him, dance is for those dancing, not for watching. Since teaching, he has taught workshops in Lisbon, Hamburg, Berlin, Toulouse, Rome, Turin, Budapest & Brussels. He will be teaching this special workshops with Alba who is also an experienced forró teacher with a deep understanding of connection, weight transfer, and musical interpretation from the follower's perspective. Together, they offer a balanced approach that benefits dancers at all levels. Alba also teaches at Espaço Baião in Lisbon.

Learn to dance with us!

Forró is a beautiful partner dance where connection with your partner is the key to enjoyment.

Each Saturday we organise light hearted fun lessons where you can learn the basic steps, feel the rhythm and learn to flow around the dance floor. They are also a great way of making new friends so no need to bring a partner.

Timetable:

7pm to 8pm : Forró beginners and improvers dance classes
Classes cost £12 each or cheaper with Class Cards or combined with a party ticket

8pm to midnight : Forró Dance Party
