Fostering Information Virtual Event
Wed 25 Oct 2023 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM BST
Online, Teams
Description
Join us for an informal information presentation and chat where you can find out more about fostering for your local council and all the ongoing reassurance and support that brings.
This session is for anyone thinking about fostering from babies to teenagers and all the different types of fostering there are.
- Fostering will suit different people or families at various life stages. If now isn't quite the right time for you, but you're still curious to find out more ready for when it is, please still come along, there's no commitment.
- If you currently foster for another local authority or agency, it's a really simple process to transfer to ESCC and you can carry on with any children already placed in your care.
- 'Supported lodgings' is when our 'providers' offer young people 16-21 years old the chance to learn the skills they need to move on to living independently. We can explain more about this type of fostering within the session if anyone is interested too.
- You may be able to work alongside fostering if your work is flexible so you can attend meetings for the children in your care when required - please ask any questions you have about this at the session.
- There is flexibility and enhancement rates in addition to the basic pay allowances shown on the website which can be discussed with our team in due course. We also help you with information about the benefits you can still claim because fostering allowances are not counted as income when calculating many means-tested benefits.
