🔥A new format is here! 🔥

A tribe will be now formed when three/four founders come together with a shared collective idea. A tribe is encouraged to grow to a max of eight with a group committed to making it work. Its not an exact science (my first tribe only last 9 months) so sometimes take an iteration or 2 to get it right (sounds familiar?).

Tribe founders will be asked to actively recruit new members and there will be some a sort of mini “tribe dating”.

Although we will fundamentally push for diversity within tribes as this is part of the magic, we recognise that not every person is right for every tribe and we hope the new format will allow people more flexibility to find the best tribe for them, and for current tribes to see the list of people wanting to join a tribe and reach out.

It also means people can stick in a tribe for a year or two and then maybe reform if needed.

Tribes can have both no focus apart from being a safe space to support like minded people in a deep and meaningful way (this is the case for my tribe), or be focused on a particular moment in a shared journey or experience such a growing in new geographies, exits, transitioning founders etc…

Principles behind tribes:

  • Empathy for everyone is a safe space

  • Different brains and experiences are a gift to learn from

  • Be inclusive, open to ideas and feedback

  • Pay it forward

  • Deep meaningful consistent humman connection (you meet in-person of virtually every month

Rules to joining a tribe:

  • You must attend a training before joining a tribe

  • Commitment for 6 months of meetings as per the cadence of that tribe

  • If you leave a tribe before 6 months you go into the cooling box for 6 months before you can join another.

  • If you leave you should provide feedback why

  • You will have a full list of existing tribes looking for new members, or you are welcome to start a tribe yourself with 3 others.

Training:

  • 3 hours of online training on how to operate effectively in a tribe

  • Training is open to anyone to attend, even if you have not selected a tribe or you feel you need top-up training

  • Happens every quarter and is open to everyone including those who have done it before

Onboarding:

  • We will help find a core of 3 or 4 people to form the tribe (or you can also do this if there are a few people you know off). This tribe then have to recruit the rest of their tribe through our long list, copying, or even tribe events

Leaving and rejoining a diff tribe:

  • Again, If you leave a tribe before 6 months you go into the cooling box for 6 months before you can join another.

  • After the first commitment you can apply to join other tribes if they have space or are taking members.

As a tribe how you agree to take on new members (the meeting and dating):

  • Not voting. It should be a discussion amongst all members

  • Think Greek agora with share of voice, talking and listening and then coming to group consensus

  • It needs to feel right to everyone in a tribe

Non negotiables:

  • Everyone must do the training

  • Minimum 6 month commitment if you say yes to a tribe

  • When selecting new tribe members do this for compassionate connection, empathy and difference. Not just to have 8 people like you. You will be guaranteed to learn less.

  • If you leave a tribe before the 6 months you enter a cool down period and will ask you to have a chat with Sam, Eamon and Mel

We will also be adding a quarterly tribes email:

With insights tips and cool workshop to do.

Events:

Annual Tribes facilitator event.

Annual Tribes learning event.

Fees:

  • Admission to the tribes community, to be on the lists, one training events, and ongoing tribes support will cost a one off of 350 GBP admission (we have tried very hard and pushed this to be a very discounted rate compared to before).
