Halloween is a pagan folklore festival commemorating the Dead, and recognising the existence of a spirit world beyond our perception. For Herdsman (& not just Horsemen of the Otherworld), it marked the beginning of the New Year; the mirror image of the May Day festivals of fertility ushering Spring.
Its origins lie with Celtic festival of Samhain, or "summer's end", which marked the end of the harvest season, and the beginning of the "darker half of the year"; a liminal time, when the boundary between this world and the Otherworld thinned. It marks a time when the Aos Sí (forms of ancient Gods we now see more akin to Spirits and Faeries) could more easily enter our world, and the Dead could revisit us for a brief moment; where we could confront the very furthest edges of life.
Fox&Badge invite you on a journey into the twilight to explore this unknown realm; an immersive and intoxicating journey into darkness and light, fright and illumination. This is not to be a night of schlock shock, evil and horror, werewolves and vampires and violence and blood, but rather an elegant exploration of ethereal otherworldiness, with seances and invocations, Tarot and interpretations, recitations and divinations; deep seriousness and ritualism in one room; frantic frivolity and games in another. Guests will reinvoke the sacred traditions of "Guising", dressing in their finest, sophisticated Gothic finery in tribute to the world beyond.
More information to follow as we near the threshold; for now, expect glorious otherworldly music from the following 6 extraordinary DJs, playing across 2 very different rooms + a host of beautiful performers - and our exceptional crowd :
