“Everybody loves the sixties, especially those who weren’t there.” (A.D. Aliwat)
This event is now SOLD OUT. For ticket exchanges, please use our official Tixel platform here - to either to sell your ticket or pick one up from the waiting list <3
Fox&Badge cordially invite you to converge and celebrate a re-imagined and reinvigorated Summer of Love, inspired by the revolutionary spirit of the United States in the late 1960s.
America was at war - with parts of Latin America, Asia, Vietnam, and much of itself. But change was also in the air.
Fresh from our recent VIKINGS skirmish, we ourselves switch from winter warriors to summer lovers, reclaiming the spirit of that period that so closely reflects our Fox&Badge values: love, liberation, peace, empowerment, transformation, and transcendence.
“The thing the sixties did was to show us the possibilities and the responsibility that we all had. It wasn't the answer. It just gave us a glimpse of the possibility.” (John Lennon)
It will also be the time of the Summer Solstice, that great globally-unifying moment of climax and renewal, where we collectively worship this external energy source - and honour our own internal one.
We originally planned to host a Scandinavian segue, celebrating their Midsummer in all its primal darkness and beauty; dropping ice for ivy, furs for flowers; deepening our Pagan worship. But we also yearned for a more contemporary and perhaps lighter festive spirit - one that embraced both nature & civilisation, flowers and friendships.
And thus rather than a more ancient acceptance of the ways of the universe, we turn to a separate sea - to the States in the sixties, with their nature-loving hippiedom and youthful, future-oriented utopianism - and joyful sense of creativity and adventure.
.
“Historical currents do not irresistibly propel themselves and everyone in their path. No matter what their broader structural or ideological roots, they both carry along and are carried along by people, who are not merely passengers of history, but pilots as well.” (Doug McAdam)
While at this annual zenith the sun appears to stand still for a moment, change and movement continue all around us.
Gender, sex, race, class, politics, global networks - all are shifting, renewing, reinventing, continuing counter-cultural challenges to the mainstream. The 60’s psychedelic revolution, long derailed and debunked, has returned with incredible power and vigour.
Revolution is once again in the air.
We bring you a midsummer’s night of joy and laughter, connection and community, emancipation and empowerment; a stage-strewn landscape awaiting the passion of your dance. This time we’ll choreograph the performances to cede a little more space to your glory; gently ask permission to borrow them from you for some majestic moments; then return them gratefully to you for you to continue your catharsis.
“No explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch the sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world.” (Hunter S Thompson)

Powered by our female DJ pantheon, our melodic sound will be sewn with the occasional sonic strands of sixties psychedelia; perhaps occasionally, too, the contemplative Sound of Silence… Our grand vaults will be filled with flames and aerialists and all sorts of sixties moments, inspiring us to our own actions and performance.
To honour both the season and time period, we will celebrate FLOWER POWER in dress code and action, promulgating love over war, connection over conflict, immersing our community in actions and activities inspired by art and activism - starting with your own.
As with all vibrant communities, participants trump spectators, and each honoured guest plays a crucial role in this collective pageant. So we ask simply that as each of you arrive to take your place in the queue, you bring a sizable sign or banner of your choice proclaiming in one simple word what you stand for. That written word is your 2nd entry code. Together these words will form fleeting sentences, peripatetic paragraphs proffered to our city surroundings before we each dance onwards into the festivities...
We will be curating a series of magical spaces and experiences across every nook & cranny of the Steel Yard's 3 arches, including:
- a majestic pumping main dancefloor (with our signature all-female international DJ lineup of magnificent melodic techno artists we love)
- a more intimate, playful love-in dancefloor playing gentler gorgeous grooves
- a heady world of powerful and provocative 60s-themed performances
- a swarm of characters and archetypes to interact and engage with
- collective moments and ceremonies to aid our transcendental transition
- luscious chillout areas, offering Sixties Sensuality, impact, dungeon & kink at the edges
- immersive and artistic transformation of all spaces
- & you - the most glorious, fabulous, warm & participatory community, resplendent in your costume
"What do I wear in bed? Why, Chanel No.5, of course." (Marilyn Monroe)
DRESS CODE: (1) Sexy Sixties + (2) Flower Power
(1) Think bold bright makeup + small 60s dress or hotpants or miniskirt (regardless of your gender) + gogo boots or heels or platforms.
For your legs, there’s one simple suggestion, whether you’re wearing shorts or dress or skirt - keep them short - preferably very. A mere belt is fine - let that slender constraint liberate you :)
It is summer, and your flesh yearns to be free. Less is More.
Think cute, small, tight, bright, kinky, shiny, luscious; sexy.
(2) Where will all the flowers go? So many options! Your lips? Your lashes? Petals plastered to your peachy cheeks (whichever)? How many flowers - one gem, or a veritable building-sized bouquet? Real or fake? It's your revolution; you choose.
Our extensive and growing Summer-of-Love Pinterest board has hundreds of pins devoted to flowers alone - oral, optical, facial, cranial; FULLY corporeal (https://www.pinterest.co.uk/foxandbadge/fb-202306-summer-of-love - NB it also has a cautionary section on what to avoid wearing :) ).
Be creative, inventive, florally fantastical. Bish Bash Bosch too, if you fancy - if you know what I mean ;)
.
“We all had the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave…” (Hunter S Thompson)
“No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main” (John Donne). Each item you wear & each lick of makeup all compose the larger whole; each of you is a crucial creative captain in our benevolent army of the night.
Our Door Guardians will be checking costumes and upholding standards, strictly but lovingly. They’ll do everything possible to enable you to enter, but if you come inappropriately dressed, you won’t be entering with those clothes; prepare for full disclosure :)
This is a high-production, co-created arts & fetish event. We are permissive on sexual but not sartorial activity (NB there’s no official play room, but we do host a monitored dungeon & sensual space).
This is not an ironic, mocking, bad-taste event; we seek elevation rather than degradation; harmony rather than dissonance.
Please do not think baggy, frumpy, inter-generational hand-me-downs; this is not an opportunity to just wear something sixties, but a challenge to join our glorious community in the holistic sartorial art project we call dressing UP.
Absolutely no daywear, streetwear, businesswear, knitwear (even 60s), or anything off-theme; no off-theme sneakers; no random baggy stuff or boring hand-me-downs; no blobby hippie sacks; no psychedelic (or ANY) T-shirts or random leggings; no tie-dye; no Hawaiian shirts or lei, or general floral shirts.
Think FANTASY. You are the gift. Be generous.
Costume-wise, you cannot go too far.
If in doubt, ask.

“And if you listen very hard / The tune will come to you at last / When all are one and one is all” (Robert Plant)
