What's the deal?

You'll be volunteering inside one of our Refill Kiosks, or out and about on the Mobile Refill Unit. Either way, you'll always be volunteering alongside at least one other volunteer. You'll mainly be selling refill bottles and/or wristbands, and refilling our customer's bottles with refreshing chilled, filtered water. This raises funds for Frank Water's global water security work. You'll also be supporting behaviour change towards a more robust refilling culture (and less reliance on single use plastics). We'll provide training to help you speak confidently to festival-goers and customers about the work of Frank Water, and the opportunities to support us.

Registration Fee & Deposit

We ask all our volunteers to sign up using the registration form on the following page. The registration fee will be at least £80 (plus booking fee). This includes a non-refundable amount of £30 per festival you attend, plus a refundable deposit of £50. The deposit will be refunded to you at the end of the season, after completion of all your volunteering shifts.

Timings

You will be volunteering for one shift per day throughout the festival (usually 9am - 3pm or 3pm - 9pm), although some events may require a different shift pattern.

We ask all volunteers to commit to the full event. In most cases, festival volunteering starts on a Thursday and finishes on a Sunday. You will have access to the festival site from Wednesday onwards and we highly recommend being onsite from Wednesday evening, as the traffic to the site can be really heavy on the day it opens to the public. We will need you to be available from midday Thursday until Sunday afternoon/evening at the very least.

Camping

Crew Camping will be provided to volunteers, which is usually a shorter walk to site and has good showers available. You can also request a live-in vehicle pass for the crew campervan area.

Meal vouchers

You will receive a meal voucher after each shift (one per day), it entitles you to a free meal with the 4 or 5 food vendors on site who support us. We introduced this option as meals on-site can be quite costly (usually £10-£15) so this helps to keep your costs low for the weekend, and ensures you have at least one good meal a day. We also provide a selection of snacks in our volunteer tent, as well as hot drinks (and water!) to keep you sustained during your shifts.

Training and meeting the team

All volunteers will be sent a short online training session before they volunteer to understand what you'll be doing when on site, learn more about Frank Water, and meet key Frank Water staff. You'll also receive a briefing the day you arrive at the festival, to meet the team and get detailed plans for that festival.

Your contact number will be added to the specific festival WhatsApp group - this is the easiest way to keep you up to date with festival information, including how to get in, where to pick up wristbands, team camping location etc. You can use it to arrange lift shares, ask questions and make suggestions too. Any cancellations of volunteer places made 28 days or less before the festival starts will not be eligible for a refund.
