Let’s Warm Up Together at a Community Potluck and Seed Exchange!

Seed Savers Exchange is proud to sponsor this special event, hosted in partnership with Edible Silicon Valley and Fresh Approach, with additional support from Pie Ranch. Join us Saturday, January 25 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Collective Roots Community Garden in East Palo Alto, for a delightful gathering featuring a potluck meal and a community seed exchange.

Bring a dish to share and any seeds you’ve saved, as well as bulbs, cuttings, or starter plants to trade. This will be a wonderful time to connect with fellow community members, share stories about our dishes, and exchange seeds to support local gardening and sustainability efforts.

Potluck Details:
Let’s plan together! Please list your dish [HERE] so everyone can prepare accordingly. We encourage using fresh, homegrown produce from your garden or a local farmers’ market whenever possible. Edible Silicon Valley will be providing coffee to complement our shared meal.

Seed Exchange Details:
Please bring seeds in labeled packets that include the Name, Collection Date, Season, and Type (Heirloom or Hybrid). If you’re unable to prepare labels in advance, we’ll have pens and envelopes available for you to use on-site.

Allowed

• Open-pollinated seeds 
• Locally saved seeds 
• Excess-bought seeds 
• Seeds brought back from another region or country 
• Excess seeds donated by a seed company.

Prohibited

• Seeds or plants that are considered illegal, either federally in the United States of America or the state of the event
• Genetically engineered plants, F1 hybrids, poisonous, noxious, or controlled seeds, and plants
• Patented varieties. Although it is legal for gardeners to grow and save patented varieties, it is illegal to distribute them. Refer to the USDA website for a list of patented varieties
• Unknown seed from volunteer plants.

Entremos en calor juntos con comida (estilo Potluck) y un divertido intercambio comunitario de semillas. Trae un plato para compartir y las semillas que tengas guardadas. También puedes traer cualquier bulbo, corte o plantula que tengas para compartir. PARA EL INTERCAMBIO DE SEMILLAS: Traiga sus semillas en paquetes etiquetados con NOMBRE / FECHA DE COLECCIÓN / TEMPORADA / TIPO (HERENCIA O HÍBRIDO). Si no puede hacer esto de antemano, tendremos bolígrafos y sobres que puede usar.

Permitido:

• Semillas de polinización abierta.
  
• Semillas guardadas localmente.
  
• Semillas compradas en exceso.
  
• Semillas traídas de otra región o país.
  
• Exceso de semillas donadas por una empresa de semillas.
  

Prohibido:

• Semillas o plantas que se consideran ilegales, ya sea a nivel federal en los Estados Unidos de América o en el estado del evento.
  
• Plantas genéticamente modificadas, híbridos F1, semillas venenosas, nocivas o controladas.
  
• Variedades patentadas. Aunque es legal que los jardineros cultiven y guarden variedades patentadas, es ilegal distribuirlas. Consulte el sitio web del USDA para obtener una lista de variedades patentadas.
  
• Semillas desconocida de plantas voluntarias.
