2 hour First Aid Course | Basic Life Support

This is a 2 hour basic life support first aid course for those who are interested in knowing what to do in an emergency. The course will be run by Gavin Bate who is qualified first aid trainer and expedition medic. Proceeds will go to Freshford PTA and the maximum number will be 20.

Tickets are £20 per person.

Basic Life Support course content:

• Incident management – a systematic approach to managing first aid incidents - ABC
• Airway Management – treatment of unconscious collapse
• Recovery Position
• Breathing Problems - Cardiac Arrest CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
• AED / Defibrillator use
• Heart attacks
  

Please note that this is not a certified course, but it will provide very useful knowledge for anyone interested in dealing with a collapsed casualty and what to do with a defibrillator, how to manage a 999 call and deal with an incident. The course relates to adult casualties but we will also look at paediatric protocols.

The course will run from 1pm to 3pm in the hall, leaving enough time to get to the school gate for pick up. Please dress appropriately, it's an interactive course! Gavin will bring all the necessary equipment and there will be tea and coffee and biscuits available.
